About Us
The Suleja Cooperative has a predictable but interesting history which was made by visionary leaders in the Federal Road Safety Corps Suleja Unit Command in 2004.
In response to financial pressure from members on the then existing Social Welfare Scheme and the inability of the scheme to meet the increasing financial needs of members of staff, the then Unit Head of Administration and Human Resources SRC O Omolayo and others proposed the establishment of the FRSC Suleja Staff Cooperative Welfare Scheme under the command of then SRC IM Audu (Unit Commander) to enable members pool money together to meet each others' financial needs with an aim of making profit that all members can benefit from. This was unanimously agreed upon and members of staff eagerly applied to join the new Cooperative.
The Cooperative started in 2004 with about 30 members and a total asset not exceeding One hundred and fifty thousand naira (N 150,000).
Through dogged determination and prudent management on the path of successive executives members of the Cooperative over the years, the Cooperative has grown greatly in membership strength and asset base and has attracted members of staff of the FRSC from formations in all geo-political zones of Nigeria, and a few non-FRSC staff who were admitted following strict terms and conditions.
The Cooperative has grown in leaps and bounds since 2008 when ACC CI Muta'a and his team of executive members took over leadership of the Cooperative. As at 2013 the Cooperative has an asset base of about Seventy million naira (N70,000,000) and membership strength of over 350. There has been consistent growth and high level of confidence among members of the Cooperative as well as innovations that have benefitted members. Presently the Cooperative has been registered with the Niger state government.
It is believed that based on established mode of operation and integrity of both present and future executives, the Cooperative will grow even bigger and stronger to bring more benefit to its members long into the future.
